DO YOU ALLOW ONE NIGHT STAYS AT THE BARN?
Yes, but only in special circumstances.
In principle, our minimum booking is three nights throughout most of the year, and 7 nights in July and August.
The 7-night policy allows us to take more “family” visits during the school holidays. We do have an exception #on
even in the summer – if one family is leaving on a Monday, and another arriving the next Friday, we will allow a
Mon-Friday (4 nts) or even a 3-night booking in between.
Manx bookers and repeat guests can take advantage of a choice of two special offers – a 10% discount on the
base room charge, or an extra night free.
All that said, you don’t have to stay all the nights that you book. Particularly during the festive seasons, it is quite
common for a corporate client to book three nights, use the first day for set-up, host a corporate event the
second day, have a few people stay over, and return on the third day to clean up.
Outside of the Christmas, TT and Summer seasons, the cheapest three-night stay is Mon-Thu, which costs £600 +
5% VAT = £630. The most expensive is a weekend Fri-Mon, at £1100+VAT. You can work out any other
combinations using this pricing:
M £100, T £100, W £200, T £200, Fri £350, Sat £350, Sun £200. Add £200 cleaning, and VAT at 5%.
During the quiet seasons, we also allow mid-week 2-day bookings at £600 + VAT.
One-night bookings. We DO make some exceptions, but only on Mondays to Thursdays. You’ll appreciate that
accepting a single night on a weekend would inevitably cause us to lose a whole weekend booking, as we are
ALWAYS full on weekends.
A one-night stay on any day is £550 Plus VAT. But …
We do not allow the hosting of large parties. We have unfortunately, twice had the experience of young people
booking a short stay, then publicising a “rave” on the internet, causing over 100 people to show up and trash our
home. In both cases, drugs were found, the police had to be called, the damage was over £2,000 and had to be
paid by the booker (in one case, the court proceedings). We simply cannot tolerate this or impose it on our
neighbours. That said, a responsible adult with a legitimate reason for booking only a single night can request a
concession. For your guidance:
We have permitted: a BBC documentary film crew; a yoga retreat; an agricultural photoshoot; a bank’s board
meeting; a counselling group; various corporate training sessions; a lawyers’ conference; a strategy meeting;
various healthcare training sessions. Request a one-night booking.
We have refused: an “adult content” film shoot; an escort service; a high school graduation party; a university
reunion.
Please note the following requirements for single event bookings: booker must be an adult aged 30+; booker
accepts responsibility for the actions of all persons present; not more than 25 persons may attend any event; group
staying must observe our noise rules; we reserve the right to ask for a substantial damage deposit.
If you would like to request a one-night booking, please email manxbarn@gmail.com telling us who you are,
where you come from, the purpose of the booking, who will attend, and whether you can fulfil the conditions.
